I recently decided to get another dog & instead of going through a breeder or pet store I decided to look into adopting a dog from a shelter. I figured that after several months since my oldest yorkie Harley passed away my younger yorkie Megan could use a new companion.
I discovered the process for adopting a dog from a shelter is a lot like buying a house. I had to browse through the internet, save my favorites, fill out a preapproval before I can purchase, get a background check where they contact my vet, groomer. friends, & family. Now that I have been preapproved I am getting a home inpsection today.
I think it is quite funny;who knew it was such a rigorous process. I feel like I'm buying a house. A volunteer is coming over to make sure I have a pet friendly house and is bringing a furry companion to see how my dog interacts socially with her dog.
After cleaning & staging my house and leaving out all the pet stuff we normally hide when selling a house I'm ready and I guess the fate of my closing will left to doggie chemistry. Here are 2 of the cute dogs I am considering adopting. Marcos was given up by his owner and Gidget is puppy mill survivor. Before I started this process I had no idea just how many of these animals are available and the hardships they have endured in their short lives. Whatever the outcome today, these volunteers are to be commended for the time, love and patience they take out of their personal lives to care for these dogs, nurture them back to health and provide foster homes for them until they find new families. I would highly recommend that anyone looking for a pet consider adopting a rescue dog.
Looking Forward To A Successful Closing!
